TEAM HYBRID have added another machine to our hand cycle portfolio. The Viper power cycle can now be turned into a true off road vehicle. The new cycle is built around the Quickie GPV wheel chair, the power comes from two rear wheel drive Heinzmann motors.
The two Heinzmann motors are mounted in a custom built frame, this is then bolted to the rear of the Quickie GPV wheelchair.

When the chair has the fittings mounted the Tag Axle takes only minutes to take on and off, the wheel chair can then be used as normal.
Both motors are operated by a single throttle mounted on the handle bars.

The front of the Viper consists of a single front wheel, frame, handle bars and brakes, this mounts to the wheel chair in the same way as all of the Team Hybrid cycles.The battery pack is also mounted at the front of the Viper. The Viper Tag Axle works on the same principle as the Viper Power Cycle in that it freewheels, this means that when the throttle is closed and the power is reduced or stopped the motors/wheels will carry on turning with any resistance. This is a one built to our customers requirements. Features include a single programmable controller operating both wheels, reverse gear, double battery pack and true LED battery fuel guage and fault diagnosis. Top speed is 6mph with incredible torque of over 150Nm

“A couple of pics of off roader taken on Sunday – wet, muddy, slippery conditions through woods and across a maize stubble field of wet, clingly clay and some very steep inclines all negotiated well”.
“I am hugely impressed with its performance.
Have still only charged each battery once and the current battery has done me a full circuit of the farm and the clay shoot yesterday with some charge still left.
Difficult to put a distance figure on it but the conditions, especially yesterday, were pretty grim”

The VIPER TAG AXLE provides comprehensive safety features against possible technical malfunctions of the controls, or on attaining critical operating states, or as a response to a specific behavior. These functions include the following features:
1 Automatic shutdown of the drive in case of electrical failure.
2 Soft motor start when the twist grip is turned abruptly or when too much force is applied when
starting from a stand still.
3 Activation of the motor only after the twist grip is turned beyond a certain angle from zero
position.
4 Automatic return to zero position when the twist grip is released.
5 Automatic shutdown as a protection against over heating.
6 Automatic shutdown of the drive in case of battery under voltage.
7 Key operated switch as a safeguard against unauthorised use.
